Introduction / Vision / Mission

The Department of Electronics  was established in 1984 with BSc  two-year program. With the rapid growth of technology and rising demands of skilled professionals in the field of electronics, Islamia College Peshawar initiated BS four-year programs in subjects of Electronics and Telecommunication Systems in 2010 . 

The department has experienced faculty of various specialties. Availing the friendly and scholarly environment of the department, the students have presented their research in different conferences at national and international level and published many papers in Web of Science recognized journals. They are encouraged even more to participate in various academics, sports and extra-curricular activities.

The curriculum of this program is an optimal combination of theoretical concepts in electronics and its application to real world problems. The curriculum covers the fundamentals of electronics such as Basic Electronics, Electronic Devices, Electronics Circuit Analysis, Digital Electronics, Electromagnetic theory, Control Systems Theory, Analogue and Digital Communications, Digital Designs, Signal Processing. Microcontroller and Microprocessors, Power Electronics and Industrial Electronics. This curriculum has been devised with a view to meet the requirements of design and development in industry and also provide strong basis for higher studies. Moreover, a variety of elective courses are repeatedly offered according to the need of the current demands of industry.

With the grace of All Mighty Allah  50-60 %  graduates of this department have obtained jobs and are serving the nation in different fields  like Industries, Telecom Sector (Telenor,Ufone Jazz etc.), Competitive Exams, Teaching, Hospitals (Biomedical Equipment’s Engineers), NESCOM , Atomic Energy and many sensitive and military jobs. While 20-30% of them are pursuing higher studies by availing scholarships in Pakistan and abroad.

The department has also launched an Alumni page on face book (Alumni Electronics ICUP). The students are kept updated through this page about different jobs. The junior students can get guidance (about test preparation and interviews) from their seniors.

Vision

  • To prepare students to adopt and trickle down the modern electronics and telecommunication technology in this Province particular and the county in general.
  • To prepare students to introduce innovations in the existing electronics and telecommunication technology in the society.
  • To  develop the department enough to meet the requirements of the surrounding industry.
  • To ensure that the department provide quality education at par with the advanced countries and adopt the current development in the field of electronics and telecommunication.  

  Mission

  • To prepare such students to compete internationally, produce creative solutions to the societal requirements, be aware of the global moral values and  professional ethical codes and to have such knowledge which fulfills the global needs in the field of electronics.
  • To sharpen  the students’ capabilities and shape their scientific temperament and motivate them for research and practical work.
  • The department  struggles to produce  students competent enough to face the challenges of the society and also give them the opportunity of practical work in laboratories which fulfills the requirements of electronics industry.
