Directorate of IT services (DITS) was established with approval of the competent authority in June 2013. DITS provides wide range of services including Internet, Video Conferencing, Computer Software and hardware support to both staff and students throughout the college. Also new Internet connections from various departments/ Labs are requested as the demand for Internet is growing day by day. Apart from these activities, DITS maintain Video Conferencing Hall, Microsoft’s ELMS (e-academy License Management System) for providing genuine software to the Faculty/ Staff/ Students and corresponds with Higher Education Commission, Islamabad pertaining to Pakistan Education & Research Network (PERN) connection.

Projects:

• Smart University Project

DITS have successfully implemented the Smart & Safe University project and is now fully function:

• Around 771 cameras have been installed covering boundary walls, roads, parking, class rooms, labs, corridors, entry/exits and cafeterias.
• Control Room with 8 LED has already been setup to provide facilities for monitoring these cameras around the clock
• A total of 364 Wi-Fi wireless devices have been installed, covering class rooms, labs, offices, corridors, halls, cafeterias and outdoors areas
• 13KM Fiber optic cable have been installed connecting almost all devices directly to the data center
• A complete rack including Firewall, Core Switch, Data Servers, Wi-Fi controller and radius servers were installed in the Smart University Project.
• 55000 UTP cable were installed covering almost all departments and University hostels.
• 116 switches and 76 UPS were installed throughout the university campus to provide uninterrupted internet services.
• The Internet bandwidth has been increased from 46Mbps to 410Mbps.
• Smart University access has been provided to most of the employees and boarder students

• IT Industrial Innovation, Research Center and Strengthen of the Islamia College University, Peshawar

DITS assisted in preparation of the IT infrastructure part of IT Industrial Innovation, Research Center and Strengthen of the Islamia College University, Peshawar Project’s PC-1. DITS is now helping in the implementation of the said project.
