The Department of Computer Science was established in 1987 when Islamia College was a constituent college of the University of Peshawar. At its inception, the department launched a BSc in Computer Science program. In 2000, the BCS program was introduced. A total of seven batches were enrolled in the department and received degrees from the University of Peshawar. In 2008, Islamia College became a university, and that same year, it enrolled its first batch of students in the BCS and BS Computer Science programs.
Currently, the Department of Computer Science at Islamia College Peshawar offers three undergraduate programs—BS Computer Science, BS Software Engineering, and BS Artificial Intelligence—along with graduate programs, including MS/MPhil Computer Science and PhD Computer Science.
