Dr. Shah Khalid

Dr. Shah Khalid has done his PhD from department of Botany, Islamia College Peshawar, with a pre-doctoral experience from Harvard University. He has spent time as research fellow at York University, Canada (2017) and Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom. He is currently working as lecturer at the Department of Botany, Islamia College Peshawar.

Research interests:

Dr. Khalid has broad research interests in plant ecology and currency there are two research groups under his supervision. One group is working on allelopathy--a phenomena of plants interactions with each other through chemicals called allelochemicals--and trying to solve the issue of weeds control through environmental friendly methods by searching for natural weed controllers from plants.

The other group is working on primary ecological surveys of different unexplored areas of the country and designing an updated map of vegetation of Pakistan. Beside this project some students are also working on the importance of locally found plants in the life of native people.
