VISION 

          The Department of Sociology Islamia College Peshawar envisions a high quality educational program for our graduate students. We seek to equip students with sound academic foundation that helps them to question critically, thinks logically, communicate clearly, act resourcefully, and live ethically. Also we intends producing such individuals who play their role positive, constructive, creative, productive and contributory role in both the local and global context, and to ensure that their knowledge, skills and services matters in term of addressing the socio-economic issues and formulating desired strategies. Focus is on developing and testing theories that engaged with the real world problems. 

MISSION 

To materialized our Vision, our mission is to generate knowledge which is instrumental in tackling the issues of the modern world, more specifically in local context. We are committed to a standard teaching which instills in students a lifelong curiosity and thirst for knowledge and understanding of the world around us. The courses are designed with the aim that students think sociologically, and participate in the social setting; they are part of in the desired manner. 

OBJECTIVES 

• To promote empirical research among the students of Sociology 

• Addressing the issues of society by producing well versed and well equipped sociologists 

• By applying social theories and thereby bridging the gap between theory and practice.

• To inculcate in students the spirits of empirical research, so that they contribute to the pool of existing knowledge. 

• To help policy makers, through knowledge generation, to devise best policies considering the emerging socio-economic issues of Pakistan. 

• Helping the students to discover and polish their potentialities by engaging them in wide range of seminars, workshops, group discussion, presentations, data collection, data analysis, data interpretation, report writing and other needed field activities.
