The Secretary Irrigation, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Muhammad Ayaz Khan paid an official visit to Islamia College Peshawar, where he held a meeting with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Ur Rehman Saljoqi. During the meeting, matters pertaining to environmental sustainability and the preservation of the historic campus were discussed in detail.
Mr. Ayaz Khan commended the efforts undertaken by the college administration for the maintenance of the green lawns and overall plantation across the campus. He also acknowledged the long-standing challenges related to the provision of water and emphasized the importance of addressing these issues on a priority basis.
Highlighting the emotional and cultural significance of Islamia College, the Secretary described the institution as a “national asset” deserving of every possible measure for its preservation and advancement. “Islamia College is held in deep affection by people across the country,” he remarked. “It is our firm commitment to ensure that such esteemed institutions are extended the support they require.”
Mr. Khan further stated that the Department of Irrigation is actively engaged in the modernization of the canal infrastructure, and assured that a comprehensive and improved water management and conservation plan would soon be devised specifically for Islamia College.
The visit was also attended by Mr. Ali Hoti, Director Sports, and Mr. Muhammaf Shabir, Deputy Registrar who participated in deliberations concerning the development of the campus and the promotion of sustainable practices.
